I had a dream last night.....I was a little child, more like a toddler. A large spoon kept feeding me custard and pudding desserts. The large slice of pizza I held as my object of infantile security didn't even have the opportunity to enter my mouth, for the hand swiftly provided me with another morsel as soon as my palet was cleared. I wore accessories made of delicacies -- an ice cream hat and a bagel belt, and a bangle bracelet made of a large mickey's donut.

I never wanted to wake up.

a bit 'o slack

Yesterday was a bit of a slack day I'm ashamed to say. The day went great, but when supper time arrived I was starved and partook of the kids' frozen cheese pizza. It was Freshetta...how could I resist. My "I blew it today" attitude took over & I then had some halloween candy (CURSE YOU CANDY!).

Today I begin again with renewed enthusiasm! All is not lost...only a meal. I really wish I wasn't out of turkey bacon...it would be yummy on this snowy morning. Hello egg whites.

Today I must make rice krispie bars with chocolate frosting for my birthday girl to bring to school tomorrow. I am pledging here & now not to eat the krispie/marshmallow goo that lingers behind in the bowl. There is also a chocolate cake in my near future. Give me strength.

A TALE OF TWO SISTERS

A Tale of Two Sisters
Here we have two sisters, celebrating together their hard work on their healthy eating regimen. As you can see, one appears to have had better success than the other. They both appear happy as they laugh together and share a bag of dorritos. Lets examine their experiences more closely, and see if they are both truly happy at the end.

Failure sister starts out each day by laying out all her favorite foods on a table.
She then sets her kitchen timer for 4 minutes and madly eats as much as she can. To Failure Sister, this is a dieting method. Let's just see how it works out for her.

Failure sister actually looks proud of herself. Sitting in front of the TV, eating her 2nd supper that evening.

THE STORY CONTINUED......

Failure sister actually has altered her own mind into being able to trick itself. She opens the fridge and pretends to be getting a healthy snack with her left hand, while her right hand swiftly lifts a chocolate cake or other decadent dessert from the shelf. She looks over her shoulder and then....

It happened very fast, but did you just see what happened? Failure sister quickly crammed some chocolate cake into her mouth.
Failure sister managed to pack on 14 pounds on the diet. She feels ashamed in private when slipping into that little black dress. She knows that sucking it in, will no longer hide her shame. Still, she doesn't understand where in the diet she went wrong. Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Successful sister eats at the appropriate times. She always chooses healthy snacks like broccoli and red bell peppers. To remind herself to make good snack choices, she always wears colors that coordinate with high fiber vegetables. Red tops and green pants are a staple favorite!

Successful sister craves salads. She creates them simply for the pure art of it. Before each salad is eaten, she poses with it to add to her creative memories scrapbook. Dieting to her, is a fond memory she will re-live over and over again, and share with others. Way to go, successful sister!
As you continue on your quest, consider which sister you would like to be in the end. There isn't any method that failure sister used that will help you end up looking as fit and happy as the successful sister.
There are 2 sisters, and there is no room for loosers.

Yeaaaaa! One day down!

Super Target provided me a happy discovery tonight - caramel flavored sugar free pudding!! Finally something other than chocolate/vanilla!! I can't wait to eat one tomorrow.

enough is enough

I've had far too many days that start out great and end with "Oh well, I blew it today. I'll start again tomorrow. Pass the Halloween candy." So starting today I am doing the South Beach low carb thing for 1 week. There's no way I can stick to this long term, but maybe dropping a few pounds this week will be a much needed jump start. One can only hope.

It's time I lived up to my name. Cheesesticks here I come.
